Nylon Whips Vs Leather Whips

Over the past few decades and, in more recent years, nylon has become a viable material in which to construct well-functioning bullwhips & snakewhips. This isn’t to say that nylon is a good alternative to using leather in building whips, but as a complement to leather. When the weather is wet, a nylon whip is much more suited for this condition over one made of leather.

Some people like to debate on the subject of nylon vs. leather when it comes to whips. There’s nothing quite like a well-crafted kangaroo hide or cowhide whip fashioned by the hands of a talented & skilled whipmaker. Yet when the weather turns wet & humid, those pretty leather braids are less suited for these conditions, and usually stay indoors & unused.

Personally, I don’t see the debate. Rather, I see a combination, a pleasant teaming of nylon & leather. Someone who’s just starting to crack whips is more inclined to pay a bit less money than a good leather whip starts at, in order to determine whether or not they are going to enjoy this newly popular past time. Once they’ve decided to pursue it, then perhaps buying a more expensive whip made of leather will become a consideration.

There are several benefits of using a whip made of nylon. Here’s some points to consider:

1. Nylons are generally lower cost than leather whips.

2. Nylon is more durable than leather and can take more abuse.

3. Nylon is moisture resistant.

4. It requires no maintenance.

5. It doesn’t mold or mildew and it won’t rot.

6. It’s impervious to wet & humid climates.

Those are just some benefits of using nylon whips. They don’t compare to leather in terms of feel or smell, but can perform everything an expensive leather whip can. Bottom line, there’s nothing you cannot do with a nylon whip that you can with a leather whip. So, leather whips are great, and if you can afford a high end whip built by a top notch whipmaker, then that’s what you should buy. But when the weather conditions are less than ideal, and you’re afraid of damaging or dirtying that nice leather, consider using a nylon whip. They’re not an alternative to leather whips, but rather a complement to them. You can use both types of whips.

Tips For Making a Braided Leather Bracelet

You can make a braided leather bracelet yourself to save the cost of buying one. The only materials you will need are wire, cones, a clasp and some leather strips. Then check these steps on making a braided leather bangle.

When making a braided leather bracelet, you’ll need the following:

- Thin strips of leather (up to three quarters inch wide)

- Two 3 inch pieces of wire (18 or 20 gauge is best)

- Two cone end attachments (large enough to cover the knots at each end)

- Glue

- One clasp

- Two jump rings

- Pair of scissors

- Wire cutting pliers

- Pliers

Cut both your wire and your leather down to the dimensions that you need. The first step in making your leather braided bracelet is to cut three leather pieces between 12″ and 14″ long. A knot needs to be tied approximately an inch from the end while the strips are held together. Next tighten the leather strips by putting a wire in the knot and pulling on them. A tiny bit of glue should be added to the knot. To prevent discoloration, don’t do this too long into the leather.  First, wrap the wire tightly around the knot once to make a circle and give it a twist to tighten it. Thread the cone with the wire then slide the cone to the top of the knot. Once the cone is on the knot, twist the wire and prepare a loop at the end of the bracelet.

Begin braiding. Now that you have your three pieces of leather secured tightly, you can begin the process of braiding your leather bracelet. Tie your leather to something sturdy, such as a drawer or your kitchen table. Braid the leather strips quickly and tightly. Braiding requires you to cross the left strip over the middle, then the right strip over the middle. Repeat as many times as needed. When you have braided your bracelet so that it is the length you want it, tie a loose knot in the end of it.

You should complete the end of the woven leather bracelet. After you finish braiding, use wire to secure the braid and end knot. You should run a piece of wire through the knot just as you did when you started the bracelet. Dab some glue, wrap the wire around it in a tight circle and then twist all the wires together and thread them through the cone. After you trim the leather ends, use the extra wire to make the end loop.

Now connect the clasp. Add the clasp now to attach the ends together. You can do this easily by connecting the wire loops at each end of the bracelet to a clasp end. Some types might require you to attach the clasp with jump rings. You have now made a basic braided leather bracelet which you can make fancier by adding beads and bangles.

I Miss My Sauder Furniture Store

One of the great inventions of the 20th century is furniture that you put together yourself. Because you have to provide some of the labor the cost of this furniture is considerably cheaper than something you’d buy at a standard home furnishing store. In the beginning these pieces were cheaply made and it showed. But in the last several years the most popular manufacturers have started making very classy looking furniture that, once assembled, is almost impossible to distinguish from their standard counterparts.

In my house we have lots of “do it yourself” furniture, mostly from Sauder, some from O’Sullivan. We have bookshelves, dressers, an entertainment center and desks. None of them look cheap and all were a fraction of the cost of what we could have paid at a regular store. In my office I have a nice medium oak computer desk that sits right in the middle of the room. Everything is level, straight and the drawers roll evenly. It’s a nice piece of furniture.

In the living room we have our 40″ flat screen TV sitting on a Sauder entertainment center. We had to adapt it just a bit so the new TV would fit, but it looks nice. It’s a corner unit, cherry red, with bookshelves on the side. It’s nice enough I’d take it with me when we move. These pieces are no longer considered throw away furniture that you give only to college kids. They are becoming centerpieces in many nice homes today. No longer do you have to feel guilty for owning one.

We used to have a store that had a huge variety of these pieces on display. You could buy them prebuilt for you or take it home in the box. Whatever they didn’t have in stock you could order. But you could see it all on display and know exactly what you are getting. I miss that store. They closed down last year and moved on to other ventures. They are missed.

The Bar Stool – The Ultimate Home Kitchen Extra

The home kitchen is a part of the home that enjoys an unusually high amount of attention within the field of home design and furnishing: it is the area of the home where food and liveliness abound, and therefore the kitchen understandably brings out the best in people and their home.

Over recent years, kitchen design has gone through some radical, exciting changes, and today’s models of kitchen furniture and decorations are incredibly pleasing. There has been a marked trend towards adding a home bar to the kitchen or next to it, independent of the dining table, with bar stools included. The mood that this sort of arrangement can accomplish for your home is very enjoyable, classy, and is sure to be a winning combination in any home.

Bar stools themselves are a wonderful item of furniture. They utilize space economically, they are ideal for both sitting and standing situations, and-when done right-they are incredibly comfortable. The bar stool has traditionally been used for accommodating large amounts of people in restricted spaces, yet there has been a tendency toward including the bar stool into the home furniture line up, and the results have been wonderful all around. There are now more styles of bar stool available than ever before, and no matter what kind of kitchen or home bar area you have, there will be a kind of bar stool that will optimally suit your home aesthetics.

Modern styles have generally tended towards high-perched bar stools, well over the 30″ mark, with relatively high lower footrest bars. These kinds of stools are preferable for a home kitchen with a bar that is also relatively high standing, with the effect being that the room itself takes on a slightly more drastic air. Of course, whether or not you will want to have high stools and a high bar will depend on what kind of house you have. With a kitchen and dining area with very high ceilings, then it will be a good idea-aesthetically speaking-to have a high bar with high stools; a low-ceiling kitchen area will of course be better suited towards a mid-level bar and stools, at around the 25-30″ range.

Materials will ultimately define what kind of bar stools you want to get for your home (or, if you happen to be a business owner, your bar or restaurant perhaps), and today, thankfully, it is pretty easy to find bar stools made of high-quality, sturdy materials for relatively reasonable prices. Classic looking bar stools usually are made of deep, richly toned wood though it is increasingly common to see metal (or partly metal) stools, which increase sturdiness. As far as cushioning is concerned, it is pretty common to see polyurethane foam being used for the seat itself, though older bar stools will probably use some other material for the cushioning.

No matter what kind of bar stool you do end up buying, be sure to take a look at as many different options as possible beforehand, as you will be surprised at just how many different kinds of bar stools there actually are out there.

Many Areas of the Law

Years ago I wanted to be a lawyer, I studied pre-law, then Justice Administration. I loved the big thick leather books, I loved learning about famous and not so famous cases that shaped our legal system. I loved studying criminal justice and attending trials. I was going to change the world and bring justice to the perpetrators. I had big plans and grand visions.

I listened carefully to my professors and sat in on lectures given at the law school. In those days research wasn’t done on computers, we sifted through heavy books, memorized cases and familiarized ourselves with everything we could as research was the major time factor.

Time went on, students began to study areas of law pertinent to them, something they were passionate about, something they wanted to make a difference in. I had associates that went into family law, immigration law, criminal, defense and prosecution, mitigation, tax, business, patent law, and on and on the list goes, each drawn to a different area of expertise depending upon their interest and often following family members. Years have gone by and many are successful attorneys scattered throughout the country.

Attorneys in Tampa, California, New York, Nevada and even Alaska. The laws of the land are complicated, especially business law, immigration law and patent law. They are movers and shakers in their own rights making a difference one client at a time.

Eager students become practicing attorneys, each trying to do their part to keep our country running smoothly and honestly as they practice their profession.

Changes of Consumer Behaviour During a Period of Recession

Nowadays we hear a lot about an economical recession, how it influences the world economies and the stock markets around the Globe. But what influence does it have on lives of ordinary people? Has the consumer behavior somehow changed during this difficult period?

The ordinary people are usually affected the most during the difficult economic times. They are the first ones who are hit hard by the drop in stock and real estate prices. Imagine if you have a house mortgage and the car payments to make, how would you feel if your retirement saving have decreased 40-50% in one year. Being in highly risky category, the average person is always at risk of losing his job. The reason for that is that despite how recession proof your company might be, it will eventually face a drop in earnings and revenues. So, to stay alive management usually has to reduce salaries or even lay off workers.

All this will eventually lead to changes in consumer behavior. A person is more eager to save some extra money, because he does not know what future brings. Take meat products for examples – there not only has been a decrease in consumption of meat, but also the proportions of pork and beef consumption have changed. The reason for that is that during difficult economic times, people prefer to eat pork to beef, because of the cheaper prices. In some countries, where a large number of population is highly sensitive to price changes the demand for bread products has risen, meaning people have been buying more bread instead of other food products. That is because the bread has relatively low price cost compared to its high nutritious value.

The economic situation during recession usually evolves like a snowball. It affects everything from the labor market and Gross Domestic Product to the prices on most necessities. Everything from alcohol and food items (like meat, milk, bread) to luxuries is affected by recession. Studies showed that people generally cut spending on most of the luxuries, which included the following: entertainment, clothes, traveling. This are the areas that are hit the hardest.

As the consumption falls sharply in almost all sectors of the economy the simple logic tells us that the prices should also decrease. This is not the case today though. The governments around the world are so eager to continue spending, that they implement more taxes and regulations to try to cut their budget deficit. For example, in some of the EU member states, one of the side effects of this recession was the rise in alcohol and fuel prices because of the additional taxes implemented. Again an average person suffers.

The recession will continue happening once in awhile. With the age of globalization and fast information technologies they will only get more fierce. So, the only thing we can do about it is to protect ourselves by taking less debt, saving more, having strong health and some special skills, which will help us to make a living in case of a layoff.

Thoughts on Choosing Blue Area Rugs

Before you start your journey of looking for a blue area rug you should take the time to explore all the ways that an area rug can benefit the spaces that you wish to enhance with them. First you need to decide whether the rug is being used for practical reasons or purely aesthetic ones. This makes a very important difference in the style and design of rug that you chose. One of the most popular methods of using an area rug, especially blue area rugs is as a centerpiece placed near the entrance of a room or in the case of a larger room and larger rug, in the center of the room as a focal anchor.

Using blue area rugs as a centerpiece is a great idea as the color blue is one that draws the eye but does not hold it for long. They can be used along the back sides of long sofas, or as a foundation for sitting mats, poofs and Japanese tea tables. The best way to use a blue area rug for a centerpiece is to choose one which has bright patterns or includes corresponding colors which are lighter and more vibrant. Make very certain to exercise care when choosing the accessories for the centerpiece rug as this is going to set the tone of the entire room.

Blue area rugs are also great for the purpose of anchoring the rooms furnishings. Small low tables and settees are great items to place on top of blue rugs. Glass, metallic and lighter woods are best for the furniture as dark and heavy items have a tendency to “fall into” the rug rather than “float above” it. Blue area rugs have a tendency to take over the look of the room so make sure that you are not hiding their powerful appearance but rather make them the backdrop onto which you place the rest of the rooms items like islands on a fabric ocean.

If you plan to use your rug to frame a set of matching furniture make sure that you choose a shade of blue in the medium range and that the tone accents the colors of the furniture but does not match it. If you will be placing the blue area rug in the dining room make sure that you choose one with enough size so that even when the guests are seated at the table the chairs remain on the rug with about 9 inches left over behind.

If you are using your rug for areas of the home where furniture is going to be placed on them, make sure that you are not choosing to use rugs which have long tufts. This is because the furniture will create depressions in the surface of the rug. For this type of usage pick rugs which are short tufted and fibers are closely coupled. For furniture framing, make sure you choose a ceiling, or simple geometric patterns.

So, how could he not care if you want to create a center for a room, create a range of furniture or a tone, the rest of the room it can not be built with blue carpet. If you opt for Some of the best decisions in blue carpet for any of these reasons, you should consider the leader in high quality carpets, search Momeni. You have a great selection and specialize in blue carpet. Dining Out, in & Around the New Forest in the South of England – The Three Lions, Near Fordingbridge

The Three Lions at Stuckton just to the south-east of Fordingbridge on the edge of the New Forest is not such an easy place to find, but it is well worth your while seeking it out. It isn’t a pub at all, but a restaurant that also offers overnight accommodation. There is a good sized car park well off the narrow lane.

The small waiting area is well appointed with leather chairs and settees where you can sit and relax and study the blackboard displaying that day’s menu. Olives and cashews await you and you can take your time with an aperitif.

The restaurant area itself was surprisingly large and though it was a Tuesday there were still a good sprinkling of contented diners scattered about the place.

I chose the chicken cooked with lime and accompanied by mixed vegetables in season, while my partner opted for the tried and traditional sirloin steak with salad.

When my meal arrived it reminded me of a formal Elizabethan garden, geometrically displayed on the plate. Presentation is obviously a big thing at the Three Lions and it has to be said, the meals looked wonderful. My chicken dish was well cooked and packed with unusual flavours and the fresh local vegetables complimented it well.

My partner’s steak came neatly sliced and beautifully cooked and I can vouch for that too, having begged a slice to taste. All in all the main courses were truly excellent.

The hot chocolate pudding was crispy on the outside with a beautiful runny centre, accompanied with ice-cream and was a wonderful pudding and I can heartily recommend it, especially if you are a chocoholic.

As you may have gathered the Three Lions is not a steak and chips joint, (there are countless establishments of that kind throughout the New Forest area and many of them are very good too), but if you are looking for something a little more unusual, a little better quality, and yes, a little more expensive too, then I would heartily recommend the Three Lions in every way.

The food was super, the ambiance spot on, (the current owners have been there around fifteen years and have clearly worked hard to build up a good atmosphere and reputation with their mixture of casual and regular customers) while the service was cheerful, efficient, and attractive.

As an added bonus this restaurant lies in an area teeming with wild life. On the way there we stopped and watched an adult fox harassing and hunting a whole host of rabbits, while on the way back we encountered two tiny Sika deer who were in no hurry to vacate the lane, even when I stepped from the car to film them, while soon after that, a red deer hind dashed across the road in front of us, her tiny fawn chasing frantically behind.

All in all a super end to a memorable evening.
